Caithness Calendar 1999

We publish calendars annually of the following areas:Orkney, Shetland, Western Isles and Caithness. The calendars are the samedesign as for the last two years, with a larger size which allows biggerpictures and a more useful calendar area, but with only minimal increasein price and weight. The pictures are of course all new.  As usualthe calendars are widely available in each area, but may be ordered direct,either via e-mail charles.tait@zetnet.co.uk,telephone or fax. Retail price is £4.50 per calendar plus UK postageand packing of 50p. Overseas post and packaging extra at cost. Payment by Visa, Mastercard or American Express is preferred.


The Caithness 1999 covers shows Sinclair and Girnigoe castles, Wick.

January  Lybster Harbour was built in the 19th century for the Herring Fishery.
February Westerdale Mill is situated at an attractive spot on the River Thurso.
March Achavanich Stone Setting is the best preserved in Caithness 
April Wick Harbour was built in the early 1800's for the Herring Fishery and the town was once described as the "Herring Capital of the World".
May  Old St Peter's Church in Thurso was established about 1220, and abandoned in 1832.
June Ires Geo south of Wick is tyoical of the rugged Caithness coastline.
July The Broch of Yarrows on the Loch of Yarrows is one of the best-preserved Iron Age structures in Caithness.
August Freswick has an attractive sandy beach and is backed by dunes.
September The River Thurso in the epinomous town.
October John O'Groats Hotel overlooks the busy little harbour.
November Camster Long Cairn is the most impressive chambered cairn in Caithness.
December Bucholie Castle or Lambaorg was first built about 1160 by Sweyn Asleifson.
