Caithness Calendar 2003

We publish calendars annually of the following areas: Orkney, Shetland, Western Isles and Caithness. The calendars are 21x21cm with 12 pictures plus cover. The pictures are all new.  As usual the calendars are widely available in each area, but may be ordered direct, either via e-mail charles.tait@zetnet.co.uk, telephone or fax. Retail price is £4.50 per calendar plus UK postage and packing of £1. Overseas post and packaging is extra at cost (US, Canada and Australia $10US including airmail). Payment by Visa, Mastercard or American Express is preferred.  2003 calendars were published in July 2002 and are available for immediate delivery. We can also send calendars directly to friends or relatives if you wish.

Achavanich Stone Setting is unique to Caithness, with its U-shape. It may well have lunar and solar alignments.

Swiney Castle south of Lybster is a Norse-type tower which may date from the 12th century.

Dunnet Head from near Skarfskerry. The rugged north coast of Caithness has many attractive bays, coves and small settlements as well as the imposing cliffs at Dunnet and Duncansby.

Lookout, Wick Harbour. This 19th century "folly" has recently been done up.

The Whaligoe Steps, Ulbster were used to ferry Herring from the landing in the geo for processing and packing.

Dunnet Head lighthouse is the most northerly on the Scottish Mainland and was first lit in 1831. Made automatic in 1989, the lighthouse sits atop dramatic 105-metre high cliffs.

Dunbeath Harbour. The village is the birthplace of the 20th century Scottish author, Neil Gunn.

Old St Peter's Kirk, Thurso, parts of which may date from the 12th century.

Wick Harbour with small boats. It was once the busiest Herring port in Europe and the Wick Heritage Museum has much to offer on this subject.
