Standing
Stones of Stenness
Situated
on the shore of the Loch of Stenness, the stone circle of the Standing
Stones of Stenness originally comprised of 12 stones and along with
the adjacent Barnstone site dates from about 3000BC. The Odinstone was
destroyed by a farmer in 1814, but the Watchstone still stands sentinel
nearby.
