Shetland Archaeology

Shetland offers much to those interested in archaeology. The impressive sites such as Mousa Broch, Jarlshof and the exciting major excavation at Old Scatness are very visitor friendly and offer a personal experience not normally available at major monuments. However most of the archaeology in Shetland needs to be seeked out. There are sites from the Neolithic to the late 20th century all over the islands. Part of the pleasure is the discovery itself.
