Brochs and Duns 1 There are a large number of Duns and Brochs in the Western Isles. These range from the impressive Dun Carloway (which now bosts an excellent visitor centre) to the many smaller Duns which are usually on small islets connected by causeways to the shore. The excavated Broch at Traigh na Berie is particularly interesting.
