Western Isles Archaeology

The archaeology of the Western Isles is both rich and distinctive. Although best know for the Callanish Stones, there are many Neolithic Chambered Cairns, Brochs and Duns, Roundhouses and Christian buildings. There are Blackhouses and "Norse" Mills from more recent times as well as several small Castles. While some sites are well signposted, most are not which all adds to the interest in visiting these impressive sites.
