Boys' Ploughing Match
The Boys' Ploughing Match now takes place in August each year on South Ronaldsay. The little girls are dressed as horses and are judged with their ploughmen in St Margaret's Hope, after which the little boys plough on the sand at the Sand O'Right, aided by their fathers and grandfathers. The ploughs and decorations are frequently handed down from generation to generation..
