Scapa Flow
was again home to the British Navy in WWII. Orkney became a military emcampment
with naval ships, coastal defence batteries, airfields and radar sites
as the threat of invasion in the early part of the war seemed imminent.
Many dramatic operations were launched from here including the sinking
of the Bismarck.
