Eshaness - North Mainland

The headland of Eshaness in the north west of the Mainland has jagged and dramatic low cliffs of volcanic rock, which have eroded into fantastic shape such as that of Dore Holm. Stenness was a haaf fishing station in the 19th century, while the squat, square lighthouse is an unusual shape for Scotland.
