Crofting
Crofting
remains an important part of the social and economic life of the Western
Isles. Its present form is the result of changes and developments which
have taken place since 1745, many of which were not to the benefit of
the crofters. It can only be hoped that further reform will assist in
the preservation of this traditional way of life.
